Drive More, Pay Less: Nitin Gadkari Announced New FASTag Annual Pass For Private Vehicles Only
The new FASTag pass has an annual subscription fee of ₹ 3000/-, applicable to private vehicles only for 200 rides a year.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced the introduction of a new FASTag Annual Pass, which will be effective on August 15, 2025, applicable only for non-commercial vehicles.
The FASTag Annual Pass will help in the free passage of private cars, jeeps, and vans on National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) at toll plazas.
The new FASTag Annual Pass will be priced at ₹3,000 and will be valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 trips, whichever comes first.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways believes that the commuters who have to travel daily through highways and expressways will benefit from this new pass. It will “save a minimum of Rs 7,000 per pass, with the average cost of passing through a toll plaza coming down to just Rs 15”.
Currently, private cars have to buy either a monthly FASTag for ₹350 or an annual FASTag for ₹4,080 for each specific toll plaza. The new FASTag will help daily commuters reduce the average cost of toll plazas, and it will not be limited to any specific toll plaza.
The new FASTag Annual Pass can be activated through the Rajmargyatra mobile application or the NHAI website. You don’t have to create a new FASTag. The annual pass can be activated on your existing one, provided it meets eligibility criteria like being properly affixed and linked to a valid Vehicle Registration Number.
The pass is non-transferable and applicable only to private non-commercial vehicles.
Existing FASTag users can continue with their regular pass.
It is only valid for NH and NE fee plazas and will not cover State Highways, other expressways managed by state governments, or parking fees.
For point-based fee plazas, each crossing counts as one trip, with a round trip counting as two.
