Mahindra XEV 9e Expands To Six Variants: More Options For EV Car Lovers

Mahindra plans to improve its flagship electric SUV, the Mahindra XEV 9e, by launching two new variants that separate battery options from trim levels.

The upcoming Pack Three Select B79 will pair the mid-tier trim with the long-range 79 kWh battery, while the Pack Three B59 will offer the top trim with the standard 59 kWh pack. This strategic shift aims to make advanced features accessible to a broader audience.

Pricing and Availability

Currently, the Mahindra XEV 9e starts at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Pack One (59 kWh) and peaks at ₹30.50 lakh for the Pack Three (79 kWh). We expect the following new variants, launching by July 2025, to bridge the gap between previous trims:

  • Pack Three Select B79 (mid-trim + 79 kWh): ₹28–30 lakh
  • Pack Three B59 (top-trim + 59 kWh): competitively priced below Pack Three.

Deliveries for the current variants continue, starting with Pack Three in March 2025 and continuing with the lower trims until August.

Performance and Tech Highlights

The Mahindra XEV 9e comes in two battery options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. Both options use LFP chemistry for better safety. The 59 kWh battery produces 228 horsepower and goes 542 kilometers on a full charge. The 79 kWh battery option has 282 hp and covers 656 kilometers (based on the ARAI driving cycle). The DC fast charger adds 20–80% of charge in 20 minutes.

The Mahindra XEV 9e dazzles with segment-first tech: triple 12.3-inch screens, a 16-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, and AR Rahman’s “LiveYourMood” ambient experience. ADAS (Level 2) remains exclusive to Pack Three 279.

Market Impact

With over 6,500 units of the Mahindra XEV 9e and sibling BE 6 delivered since March 2025—and 10,000 sales secured in 70 days—the new variants could accelerate adoption. The changes address customer feedback prioritizing range over features in lower trims 4710.

Vivek Agrawal, Mahindra’s EV Product Head, stated:

“This flexibility ensures the Mahindra XEV 9e caters to diverse needs—urban commuters seeking value and adventurers demanding maximum range.”
