Renault Bigster: The Big Family SUV Coming to India in 2026

Renault is about to launch in India a brand new, affordable as well as spacious 7-seater SUV car, the Renault Bigster, which is ideal for big families.

Renault Bigster

What Makes the Renault Bigster Special?

Consider the Renault Bigster as the larger version of Renault’s well-known Duster SUV. While the Duster is great for smaller families, the Renault Bigster is designed for those who need more space—whether it’s for a large family, a weekend trip, or just extra room for travel and luggage.

The name “Bigster” itself tells you what this car is all about – it’s BIG! At 4.6 metres long, it’s about 30 centimetres longer than the regular Duster. That extra length means more room for passengers and a much bigger boot space.

Will Renault Bigster Be More Spacious Than Duster?

Passengers get four extra centimetres of legroom in their back seats. It might not sound like much, but when you’re on a long family road trip, every bit of extra comfort counts. The car also has more headroom, so even tall family members won’t feel cramped.

The boot space is 677 litres— which is quite spacious! It can accommodate several large suitcases and shopping bags, leaving ample space for additional items. Compare that to the Duster’s 517 litres.

What Tech Features Is Renault Bigster Expected To Have?

The Renault Bigster comes with:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen – bigger than most smartphones, perfect for navigation and entertainment.
  • The wireless phone charging feature allows you to simply place your phone on the pad, and it will charge automatically.
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – connect your phone without any cables.
  • Automatic climate control – the car maintains the perfect temperature by itself.
  • Panoramic sunroof – gives an open, airy feeling inside the car.

The digital instrument cluster is also 10 inches, making it easy to read your speed, fuel level, and other important information at a glance.

What Safety Features Will the Renault Bigster Have?

Safety is a top priority with the Renault Bigster. Every variant comes with:

  • All passengers are protected by the standard six airbags.
  • ABS with EBD – helps you brake safely in emergencies.
  • Reverse parking sensors – make parking much easier.
  • The seatbelt reminders guarantee that everyone fastens their seatbelts.
  • The speed alert system helps you stay within the speed limits.

What Engine Options Will Renault Bigster Have?

  • Strong hybrid: A 107 hp 4-cyl petrol unit teams up with two electric motors (total 155 hp), using a 4-speed auto (petrol) and a 2-speed gearbox (electric), powering the front wheels.
  • Mild-hybrid petrol: A 140 hp 1.2‑litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 48 V system and a 6‑speed manual gearbox. This variant also offers optional AWD with multiple drive modes (Eco, Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road) and hill descent control.
  • LPG-petrol: A bi-fuel version of the same 1.2‑litre turbo petrol with mild hybrid tech delivers 140 hp, with a 50‑litre petrol tank plus a 49‑litre LPG tank—claiming up to 1,450 km of range between refills.
Although diesel isn’t an option in Europe, it remains a possibility for certain developing markets.

Initial Launch Phase (2026): All variants launch with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, offering 130 PS power output. The base variant is limited to a 4×2 configuration with a manual transmission, while higher variants offer 4×4 capability and dual-clutch automatic options.

Hybrid Integration (Late 2026): A strong hybrid system featuring a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with dual electric motors (140 PS combined) will be introduced in mid and top variants, enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
